Why a Varanasi-engineered dairy stack fits the East UP — Nepal belt.

Eastern UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and the Nepal corridor sit on a dairy geography that South-headquartered SaaS vendors rarely understand at the MCC level. Three things only a Varanasi-HQ vendor can give you:

Same-city engineering

The dairy stack — ProcuPort, Milkshala, AccountBook — is written in Varanasi, not licensed in. Bug reports from a VLC operator reach the developer who wrote the code often the same week, sometimes the same day.

Nepal-corridor reach

One of the few Indian dairy platforms with a real cross-border deployment running — NPR + INR rate charts, Indian GST + Nepali VAT, dedicated Nepali invoice numbering. The Sujal Nepal case study is the standing reference.

NDDB AMCS-grade workflow

Farmer master, collection capture, quality testing, rate charts, advance recovery and farmer settlement all map to NDDB's AMCS reference schema — pressure-tested against an NDDB Dairy Services deployment, not approximated from documentation.

Frequently asked

Sort String is headquartered in Varanasi — why does that matter for a dairy?

It means the engineering team and the deployment team are in the same city as your plant. The product is built in Varanasi, not licensed from a vendor in another time zone. Bug reports go from your VLC operator to a developer 15 minutes away. Pilot rollouts at dairies in Eastern UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and the Nepal corridor get on-site supervision in days, not after-a-flight.

Which dairies in the Varanasi region already run on Sort String's stack?

Paras Dairy and Pawanshree Agro Foods are the two largest reference deployments on the dairy side (both with public case studies at sortstring.com/case-studies). NDDB Dairy Services uses our HRMS module on the Government of India Delhi Milk Scheme deployment. Across India and Nepal the dairy stack covers 25 cooperatives, 83,785 farmer accounts and 1,797 Village Level Collection Centres.

Does the software handle cross-border dairy operations between India and Nepal?

Yes — and we are one of the few Indian dairy platforms that genuinely does. Dual-country deployments run with NPR + INR price and rate-chart configurations, separate tax stacks (Indian GST + Nepali VAT) and per-country invoice numbering. The Sujal Nepal case study covers a Varanasi-region operator running dairy distribution across the India–Nepal border on the same platform.

Does it cover the whole milk chain — procurement to billing?

Yes. Milk procurement at the VLC and MCC with Fat/SNF testing-machine integration, route dispatch with GPS, plant intake reconciliation, packaging schemes for the D2C subscription side, GST e-invoicing for the trade channel, and accounting sync with Tally Prime or SAP B1. The full chain runs on one customer record — same farmer code, route code and product code flow from VLC to plant to retailer.

Can dairy farmers in Eastern UP and Bihar use the software in Hindi?

Yes. Farmer-facing screens — the VLC operator app, the milk-collection slip, the SMS notifications for daily collection and weekly payment — are all bilingual. Configurable to Hindi, English or both side-by-side. Plant-side admin screens remain in English by default. Bhojpuri- and Maithili-speaking VLC operators have run training without friction across our Eastern-UP and Bihar deployments.

Is it NDDB AMCS-compliant?

Yes. The ProcuPort module is built to NDDB Automated Milk Collection Station (AMCS) compliance — farmer master, membership records, collection capture, quality testing, rate-chart calculation, advance recovery and farmer settlement all map to NDDB's reference schema. NDDB Dairy Services is itself a deployment, so the workflows are pressure-tested against the AMCS reference, not approximated from documentation.

What's the typical deployment timeline for an Eastern-UP / Bihar dairy?

Four to eight weeks for a single-organisation rollout: one to two weeks of operations mapping at your plant + a representative MCC, two to four weeks of configuration and integration (Tally / SAP / your existing Fat/SNF testing machines), one week of pilot at one MCC, then phased rollout across the rest of the collection network. Every project ships with a named delivery owner from the Varanasi HQ.

How is it priced for a mid-sized dairy?

A one-time deployment fee plus a fixed monthly AMC. Pricing is per-organisation, not per-farmer or per-MCC, so adding 5,000 more farmers next season does not change your bill. Indicative range: ₹3–10 Lakh deployment + ₹50K–₹1.5 Lakh monthly AMC depending on module scope. Bundle pricing available when ProcuPort + AccountBook + CRM are deployed together.
